    Colour Matching - Online

Step 1: Determine whether you skin tone is warm, cool or neutral.

    How can you do this?

Many makeup artists use the ‘Vein Test’.  You can too.  Look at the underside of your wrist or neck.  What colour are your veins?

If you have blue looking veins and perhaps you also have a rosy hue to your skin you are a cool-toned person.

If you have yellow-ish looking veins and some golden tones in your skin you are a warm-toned person.

Some lucky people are a mix between the two. Their veins may appear slightly greenish.  You are a neutral-toned person and can wear most shades of foundation

Step 2: Determine what foundation type is right for you.

     How can you do this?

Easy, it is about choice.  Which do you prefer?

The SCOUT range includes 4 mineral foundations; Crème – Fluid - Loose Powder - Pressed Powder.

     Which one is for you?

    If you have a skin which is;

    • Normal – Combination:  You can use any of the foundation types above.
    • Combination – Oily:  I would suggest you stick to a fluid if you have a combination skin type and maybe use a powder over the top when you go out.
    •  Oily – I suggest you use the Loose Powder or Pressed Powder.
    • Prone to breakouts: The Loose Powder is definitely for you. You can even cover blemishes by touching a little of the powder onto the blemish until it is camouflaged successfully.
    • Normal – Dry:  With a normal to dry skin type my suggestion is either a Fluid or Crème and perhaps the Pressed Powder over the top (applied with a kabuki brush).
    • Dry:  Crème with Pressed over the top (applied with a kabuki brush).

     Step 3: Colour Matching

Select two foundation colours you think from the six below which might match your skin tone. The captions below each shade will assist in narrowing your choice.

Experience has shown me the Camel shade is by far the most popular and most selected by women and is therefore a good place to start.

If you are unsure about which colour you might be, go with a lighter option.

You can always darken a foundation by using a little bronzer over the top but it is very difficult to lighten a too dark foundation.

Remember, skin tone is the most important factor and you know you skin best.

If you are still unsure, best to head to the store.

    Colour Matching – Instore

Colour matching in-store is really quite simple and if possible take a friend when going into a store to look for a foundation.

Follow all the three steps for colour matching online so you have an idea of what you are looking for then follow these steps:

Step 1: Select two foundation colours you think might match your skin tone.

Step 2: Apply a little of the foundations next to each other on your jaw line (not your hand).

Step 3: If possible step outside (with a mirror – not always possible I know) and have a look in the natural light.

The foundation colour should almost disappear into your skin.

The one that does is your perfect match.

Ask the shop assistant to help you if you are having trouble.

Hint!  Sometimes we are combination of two colours.  Just mix the two in your hand and apply as you normally would.

    Healthy and soft Glow

The powder is so light and doesn’t look dry. A very luminous finish to your makeup. Great for a mature skin too, no sitting in the lines. I often get told how well I look when wearing the blush especially when wearing Sincerity.
